The End of an Era: Saying Goodbye to the Pink House

It is with a heavy heart that I share the news of the Pink House being torn down. As an avid photographer who has spent years capturing its beauty, this loss feels deeply personal. The Pink House wasn’t just a structure; it was an icon, a subject that never disappointed no matter the season, the light, or the weather. I have had the privilege of photographing it under some of the most breathtaking conditions, lightning striking over it, the full moon setting behind it, sunrises and sunsets painting the sky around it, and even snowy owls perching on its roof and soaring nearby. One of my most cherished images was of the northern lights dancing above it, a truly magical moment.

On March 12, 2025, demolition crews begin the process of tearing down the iconic Pink House, as board members of the “Save The Pink House” organization watch in horror. They are joined by fervent supporters who are passionate about preserving the house, all gathering to witness this heartbreaking moment unfold.

Documenting the demolition was tough. Watching this beloved landmark come down piece by piece was sickening. The video I captured serves as both a tribute and a final farewell to a place that has meant so much to me and to so many others.

I want to extend my deepest gratitude to the "Save the Pink House" organization for their tireless efforts over the past decade. Their dedication and passion in trying to preserve this landmark were nothing short of inspiring. Though the outcome was not what we had all hoped for, their work ensured that the Pink House was celebrated, cherished, and remembered.
